At Travelers Rest Animal Hospital we have a team dedicated to bringing pinnacle veterinary care to the pets and pet families of the Travelers Rest, SC community. Our staff and veterinarians work together to provide the highest level of veterinary care and outcomes in an honest and dedicated environment.

Drs. Bryant and Kelley Phillips, DVM
Veterinarian
Drs. Bryant and Kelley Phillips are both graduates of Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Bryant grew up in Simpsonville, SC where he enjoyed showing horses and playing basketball. He has fond childhood memories of assisting his father, Dr. Ben Phillips, which led him to complete a B.S. in Biology at Furman University. Dr. Kelley grew up on a cattle farm in Disputanta, Virginia where she enjoyed riding horses and playing soccer. She began pursuing her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian with a B.S. in Animal and Dairy Science at Auburn. They both credit their parents for encouragement and support that culminated in their success as veterinarians. Together their mission is to daily share the love of Jesus Christ by serving people and helping their pets.
Dr. Jennifer Given, DVM

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Jennifer Given to our Travelers Rest Animal Hospital team! Dr. Given received her B.S. in Biology at the College of Charleston, and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia. Along with her husband Sam and adorable fur babies, she resides in Travelers Rest and enjoys exploring the foothills of our beautiful community.
Drs. Will and Jennifer McDavid, DVM
Veterinarian
Drs. Will and Jennifer McDavid were both born and raised in Greenville but met each other and got married while working together at Travelers Rest Animal Hospital. Dr. Jennifer graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry, while Dr. Will graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelors of Science in Animal Science. That makes things a little interesting around the television in their house on Saturdays during the fall! Dr. Will got his DVM at Mississippi State University, and Dr. Jen got hers at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, VA. Before coming back home to Greenville, Dr. Jen spent two years practicing in a mixed animal practice in Switzerland, where she learned to speak Swiss German. Dr. Will loves to hunt and fish in his spare time (when he is not working in the yard). Dr. Jen enjoys tagging along on those trips as well as hiking, horseback riding, reading, and crocheting. They also enjoy spending time together with friends and family as often as possible. Their favorite part of working at Travelers Rest Animal Hospital is the kind-spirited family atmosphere that is fostered between the staff, clients, and patients.
Dr. Andy Roark, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Andy Roark grew up in Statesville, NC and attended Davidson College before moving to Washington DC to work at the National Institutes of Health and volunteer at the National Zoo. Dr. Roark has a Master’s degree in Zoology and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida. He received the Veterinarian of the Year Award from the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians in 2018, and loves to write articles for veterinary publications. Dr. Roark has two daughters, a naughty Goldendoodle named Skipper, and a wonderful wife (who is a professor at Furman University).
Dr. Lizzy Ellwanger, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Lizzy was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina. She attended NC State University for college and graduated with a B.S in Zoology in 2008. She continued on to veterinary school at NC State and graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2012. Prior to marriage, Dr. Elisabeth Nifong moved to Greenville, South Carolina for her first job in veterinary medicine- and has been practicing in the Upsate ever since. While not a board-certified exotic specialist, Dr. Lizzy has been treating companion animals, birds and reptiles for ten years. Her enthusiasm for all God's creatures is evident with her beautiful smile!
When she's not wrangling critters, she is a busy mom to twin boy and girl toddlers with her husband, Drew. Their sweet family resides in Marietta with their dog "Jake", 2 cats and a pet snake.
Dr. Bailey Long, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Bailey Long grew up in a military family, and has moved over 20 times between 15 states. She finished high school in Sumter, SC and then attended Clemson University. She earned a bachelors in Animal and Veterinary Science with a minor in Biology. During her time at Clemson, she met her husband.
Dr. Long earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University. During her time at AU, she enjoyed serving in the local Christian Veterinary Fellowship chapter and at her church.
Dr. Long's veterinary interests include animal behavior, weight management and nutrition, and orthopedic care. In her spare time, she and her husband enjoys traveling, sampling new foods, and going on walks with their English Labrador, Perrin.

Dr. Tom Bunch, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Tom Bunch grew up near Boston, MA but has been in and around the southeast since college. He received his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Clemson University and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University. His allegiance still very much lies with the Tigers who wear orange and purple. His veterinary interests include dermatology, dentistry, and preventive medicine. Outside of veterinary medicine, he is an avid disc golfer, enjoys bass fishing, and appreciates hiking the local trails with his dog, Brady. And yes, he named him Brady Bunch on purpose.
Dr. G. Tyler Switzer, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Switzer is a native of the upstate being born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He attended Clemson University earning a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Veterinary Science. Dr. Switzer then went on to complete his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in the Caribbean and completed his clinical year at Oklahoma State University. GO POKES! When he is not seeing patients, he is usually found outside exploring waterfalls and hiking trails of the southeast. Dr. Switzer has many different types of animals including goats, ducks, chickens, peacocks, quail, sheep, and 3 prairie dogs named Laura, Mary and Albert. Dr. Switzer started trAH in May 2023 and is very excited to start this journey with our hospital. He looks forward to seeing patients near and dear to you.

Practice Manager
Karen was born in Greenville, SC and grew up in the greater Simpsonville area, where she enjoys living today. Born an animal lover, she returned to a career in the animal industry in 2000, after raising her 4 daughters, Haley, Taylor, Sadie and Katherine. Karen enjoys working with people just as much as she enjoys working with their pets! She joined Travelers Rest Animal Hospital in 2023, where she works as the Practice Manager. When she's not doting over your pets as trAH, you can find her gardening, enjoying time with friends and family, two dogs, Millie & Mosie, and two cats, Rivers & Ollie.
Heather Nix
Hospital Administrator
Heather Nix was raised in Travelers Rest and graduated from Greenville Technical College in 2005 with 2 degrees- one in Small Animal Care and the other in Veterinary Technology. She has been a veterinary assistant since then, and started at Travelers Rest Animal Hospital in March of 2013. She is a huge hound lover, and enjoys giving extra kisses to any four legged creature with long, floppy ears! She feels incredibly blessed that God has allowed her the opportunity to work in such a wonderful career field. In her spare time she enjoys dirt bike racing and spending time with family, including her 7 four legged “children”- Clark, Griffin, Ajax, Pax, Franklin, Beatrice, and Mitchell. Heather is also big on pet nutrition, and has toured the Hill’s Pet Food facility in Topeka Kansas, so feel free to ask her about Science Diet and the research that goes into their pet food...and all the cute beagles that reside there!
Shannon Bowen
Administration
Shannon Bowen began her work with animals more than 25 years ago at the Greenville Humane Society. Having been born and raised in what was once the very small town of Travelers Rest, animals were a large part of life for her. Upon leaving the humane society, Shannon worked at a couple of local animal hospitals training as an assistant. When her brother got sick she was able to find a welcome environment at The Blood Connection where she enjoyed the direct impact that her work had on lives in the community, especially her brother’s.
Shannon joined Travelers Rest Animal Hospital in June 2017 and is ecstatic to be working in that same ‘small’ town that she grew up in. Shannon now holds her master’s degree in social work from Limestone University and has a passion for mental health and wellness. When Shannon is not working, you will likely find her with her husband or beautiful grandson playing with one, or all, of their 15 fur babies.
Emily Raines
Patient Care Specialist
Emily joined trAH in 2007. She and her family moved here from Washington state and planted their roots here in South Carolina. She has worked in the veterinary field for 23 years and obtained her Veterinary Technician license in 2010 in Washington state. In all her years here, she has had many responsibilties. Her current one is being our triage nurse. When she is away from work she enjoys outdoor activities with her husband, Jason and daughter, Prestin. She also enjoys helping her daughter compete in Motocross. They have 2 dogs, 3 cats, 7 boxed turtles and 2 Sulcata tortoises. Can you tell she loves turtles and tortoises?
Sara Tate
Customer Care Specialist
Sara is a native of Florida. At 14, she got a job with a veterinary clinic working in the kennels and worked her way up to a veterinary assistant. During her 33 years of experience she has worked in emergency care as well as general practice veterinary clinics. She moved to SC in 1998 with her husband and continued to work as a veterinary assistant in the Greer area. She started at trAH in the summer of 2005. Her love for animal care, the community and it’s people keep her doing what she loves. She lives in the beautiful Blue Ridge area with her husband Matt and enjoy's time with her 3 adult son's, 2 daughter-n-law's and identical girl granddaughters. Currently, she has 3 dogs, 4 cats, a sulcata tortiose, a ball python, goldfish and koi. (subject to change!)

Shea Jones
Receptionist manager
Shea was born and raised here in the Travelers Rest area. After graduating from Travelers Rest High School in 2015, Shea went on to Greenville Technical College and in May of 2019 completed an Associate’s Degree of Science in Business Management. She joined Travelers Rest Animal Hospital in July of 2019 working as a Receptionist and has quickly learned to enjoy the fast-paced environment working with the community and their animals. When away from work Shea enjoys spending time with her family, friends, her husband, and her two dogs, Lilah and Ben.
Hannah McCall
Veterinary Technician manager
Meet Hannah, she is currently in school to further her knowledge and become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She has experience working at an Emergency Animal Hospital and loves the rush of the ER but currently falling in love with the day clinic life! She excels at patient care and loves getting a laugh out of everyone here at trAH. You can find her easily by the contagious laugh of hers!

Heather Ashley was born and raised in Greenville SC. She joined our team in 2017. She graduated from Greenville Technical College in 2008 with her certification in Veterinarian Assisting. She has one fur baby, Watson. In her free time, she enjoys attending Clemson games with her husband and is always at a baseball field with her three kids.

Carrie was born and raised in Berea SC. She graduated from Travelers Rest High School in 2006 and received her Veterinary Assistant certification from Greenville Tech in April 2007 which is also when she began working at trAH. In 2012 she went back to school and graduated from Greenville technnical College as a surgical assistant in 2014. She now works with us part time.
She lives in Travelers Rest with her husband Bobby and their daughter Mackenzie and son Griffin. They are active members at Renfrew Baptist church where they work with youth. She enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Christian Thetford

Meet Christian. She started our team at Travelers Rest Animal Hospital in August of 2021 and enjoys every day, facing each one of them with a smile on her face. From Pickens County, Christian has enjoyed animals her whole life and is thankful for the opportunity to serve the clients and pets of trAH. Christian loves to laugh and crack jokes as much she loves taking care of animals and looks forward to opportunities to grow in the future! Although a new face here at trAH, Christian isn’t just excited about getting to know her coworkers; she’s also enjoying getting to know you and your four-legged babies! Aside from work, she also enjoys her moments away with her friends, family, and of course, her fur babies.
Sierra Ober
Receptionist
Sierra joined our team in October of 2021. She was born in Derby, Vermont and moved to SC with her mom when she was young. She is a huge animal lover and has cared for many through the years. She plans to continue for a long, long time. Her goals in life consist of always being a helping hand to those around her and making her grandma proud from the sky above.
A cool piece of information about Sierra is that she was once South Carolina's state champ in an all-age girls divison in Taekwondo. Watch out Pit Bulls! Just kidding. Not only does she love being adventurous and being in the great outdoors, she also loves being lazy on the couch with her 2 pups watching movies.
Sierra is currently a smiling face welcoming our clients and patients at the reception desk, however she plans on becoming a licensed veterinary technican by early 2023. She will do a great job! We will be excited to see her in the exam rooms.

Sheila joined us in April of 2022. She has been serving the community in customer service and reception for the past 22+ years. We are happy to have her welcome our clients and patients. She constantly strives to learn new things daily in her professional and personnal life.
Family is everything to Sheila. Michael, her son and granddaughter are a huge joy in her life.

Amy Wutke

Meet Amy, she joined our receptionist team in 2022. Amy is from New Jersey were she was raised on a race horse breeding farm. There she found her passion working with animals of all sizes. In 1998, she and her husband relocated to SC and currently reside in Greer. They have two dogs, Bailey and Carly. Prior to her time at trAH, Amy had enjoyed over 25 yrs of experience in animal medicine as a Vet Assistant in general practice and emergency care.
Amy has a passion for Dog Agility. Every chance she gets, she takes Carly out to show off her skills. The two make quite the team.
Candice Wells
Receptionist
Candice was born and raised in California. After seeing how beautiful South Carolina was her family decided to move out here in 2014 and they have loved it here ever since. She has always loved taking care of others and animals. She has rescued and cared for many stray cats, kittens, dogs and a hurt opossum. She has always considered her home to be a sanctuary for any fur baby that needs her and will feed and care for any of them that show up on the porch. Candice has worked in the veterinary field for 7 years as a technician and receptionist. She recently became a part of our team as a receptionist and loves the genuine kindness and care that she sees every day in her new work family. In her off time, she loves spending time with her husband, their 12-year-old son and the many fur babies that are part of their family.
Bri Gilham

Bri was born and raised in Port Charlotte, Florida, and moved to the beautiful Upstate in 2021. She knew from a young age that she would someday work with animals full-time, and strove to make that dream a reality. In 2024 she left dog training and made the decision to follow her passion for veterinary medicine, intertwining her love for behavior with compassionate care for your furry family members, here at trAH. Bri will be pursuing her Veterinary Technician License beginning in 2025, and plans to continue to be part of the trAH family. When she’s not serving you with a smile and a warm laugh, you can find her hiking or training her German Shepherd, Harley, in American Schutzhund.

Kayla Meyer, LVT

Kayla Meyer has been a part of Travelers Rest Animal since May of 2009. She graduated from Tri-County Technical College with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science with a Major in Veterinary Technology. Kayla was born and raised in Greenville and still currently resides there with her 12 cats: Dodger, Alley, Penny, Pita, Shelby, Wonk-E, Bruce, Nutmeg, Sunny, Simon and Agnes; a Leopard Gecko named Dude; her dog Hank and 4 Parakeets named Kiwi, Maize, Fig and Honeydew. Known as the "cat lady" at the office, she loves all animals equally but cats hold a special place in her heart. Kayla also enjoys researching pet nutrition, and hopes to become certified as a hospice and euthanasia technician in the near future.
Marisa Lorenzoni, LVT

Marisa started her journey into the veterinary field shortly after graduating from Travelers Rest High School in 2011. As a young girl, her love for all creatures and passion for taking care of animals encouraged her to pursue an education in this subject. After being introduced to some staff at Travelers Rest Animal Hospital, she accepted the position of a kennel technician. This truly allowed her to dip her toes into the field, soak up as much experience as she could and instilled the value of hard work and dedication. To further her education on a college level, she applied to Tri-County Technical College’s Veterinary Technology program. After 2 years of balancing work and her studies, she graduated and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician. This accomplishment advanced her to her ultimate goal of becoming an LVT. She has now been a part of the trAH family for 10 years and enjoys providing excellent care for all pets in the community. Throughout her educational and professional journey, she also introduced two beautiful babies into the world. They too share her passion for all creatures big and small.
Lucas Eades, LVT

Lucas Eades joined the trAH team in February of 2016. Before joining our team, Lucas worked as a veterinary technician in Seneca for about a year. Lucas graduated from the veterinary technician program at Tri-County Tech in May of 2017 and became licensed shorty thereafter. Being a lifelong resident of Pickens South Carolina, Lucas has gained much experience with caring for animals such as chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, rabbits, goats and horses. Besides spending time with his Australian Shepherds, Lucas loves spending time with family, friends and his pets.
Sarah Pressley, LVT
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Sarah Pressley was born and raised in the upstate of South Carolina. She spent her childhood outdoors with a variety of farm animals including horses, goats, ducks, cows and chickens. As she got older, she began to develop an interest in Veterinary Medicine. After graduating from Pickens High School in 2010, she attended Tri-County Technincal College's Veterinary Technology program. She graduated in 2014 from college with an Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology. Her first job as a technician was in her hometown of Pickens where she worked 2 years in a small animal practice. While there she passed both State and National boards and is now a licensed veterinary technician as well as gaining essential experience in a veterinary hospital. Sarah joined Cleveland Park TR in March of 2016 where she hopes to further her knowledge and experience with both small and large animals. In her downtime, she spends a lot of time in the woods talking with God and enjoying his creations. She loves fishing, hunting, hiking, and camping when she has the time. She and her husband of 4 years live off the beaten path in the Table Rock area with their 4 dogs, Pup, Ruger, and Kimba.
Nicole Singleton, LVT

Nicole Southerlin started with us in May of 2017. She is a native of Greenville and plans on staying here. After graduating high school, she decided to attend technician assistant school, but that was not enough for her so she decided to get her license as a Veterinary Technician, LVT. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology in 2017. We love having Nicole around. She is a great technician with a very loving personality. Her hobbies include fishing, hiking and attending car shows with her fiancé Adam. She has many fur babies, Piper, Peaches, Ginger and No No. They are her loves!
Bri Sullivan, LVT
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Meet Briana, or Bri as we call her here at Travelers Rest Animal Hospital. Although she joined our team more recently, in Jan. 2022, she fits in so well that it feels like she has been here much longer. Bri grew up in veterinary medicine, helping her father in NY as a vet assistant, then proceeding to get her license in 2016. She has been an Equine Technician for 5 years, then a short time in oncology, and finally returned to small animal medicine a year ago. At trAH, Bri has found her home. She loves adventures outdoors with her friends and when you can't find her there, chances are that she will be rocking out at a concert! She takes pride in her “mini petting zoo” at home and loves all animals, furry, feathered, and scaly.
Candace Hagan, LVT

Candace is a Veterinary Technology student at Tri-County Technical College. She came to us in January of 2022 to complete her externship and became a part of the trAH team. She will graduate in the spring of 2023 and prepare to take the VTNE. Candace was born and raised in Greenville, SC. If she isn’t in class or studying, she’s spending time with her husband, two kids, and array of dogs and cats.
Jessie Johann, LVT
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Jessie joined trAH in July of 2021, she grew up in Hendersonville, NC and moved to Vermont for college. Taking a giant leap in 2006 she and her husband moved to Los Angeles, CA. She started her technician career at a large General Practice that saw cats, dogs and exotics pets. She’s encountered some amazing animals over the years such as the African Crown Cranes, Squirrel monkeys, Skunks, Savannah monitors and Sulcate Tortoises! After 14 & 1/2 years in LA she and her husband decided to leave the hectic city life and be closer to family in North Carolina. They moved to Greer, SC in 2020 during the beginning of the pandemic and what a crazy time to move across the country! When she’s not working at trAH, you’ll find her enjoying time with her many cats and adorable chickens.
Samantha Brown, LVT
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Samantha Brown or Sam (what she prefers to be called) joined the team in August of 2024, but has been working in the Veterinary Field for many years. Prior to her occupation at trAH, Sam worked in Emergency Vet Medicine and taught at Tri-County Technical College in the Vet Tech program. Sam received her degree in Animal Science and LVT licenses in 2015.
When Sam is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, animals, and the outdoors. Sam is married with three kids, one girl and two boys. She has three dogs and three cats. Sam enjoys fishing, car shows, outdoor adventures, and DIY-ing.

Jessica Green joined our team in July of 2020. In May of that year, she graduated from Furman University with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. You can pick her out of our crazy crew as being the girl who is a complete sucker for schnauzers! She loves all of her patients, but schnauzers have a special place in her heart! Jess has always had a passion for animals and wanted to be a veterinarian, long before she was even able to say the word. These passions pushed her to start working in the veterinary industry at the age of 15 as a kennel assistant.
Throughout the years, she gradually moved into the role of an assistant. As of today, she has officially been an assistant for 5 years and plans on applying for vet school soon. In the meantime, she’s really enjoying each day in her job role! After work, you’ll probably find her at home on her couch with a book and her fur babies-Lance, Layla, and Leo.
David Balles
Veterinary Assistant
David has a Bachelor's degree in Biology from North Greenville University. He joined Travelers Rest Animal Hospital as a kennel/assistant in August 2016. He was born in Hawaii and moved to South Carolina 10 years ago. He has built a life and family here that he truly loves and enjoys. His goal is to one day attend a veterinary school and earn his DVM. He also aspires to come back after a few years of veterinary practice to be a professor at North Greenville University. He would love to help students achieve the same dream he is working toward. He is very passionate to be able to give back to the college that has given so much to him!
Madison Faulkner
Veterinary Assistant
Madison was born and raised in Greer, SC. She graduated from Byrnes High School in 2018. She became a member of our team August of 2020 as a boarding technician and then worked herself up to an assistant. From the time she was a little girl she knew she wanted to pursue her dream in veterinary medicine. It’s a passion that never faded. She is blessed to be a part of such a wonderful team at trAH. In her downtime, she spends a lot of her time outdoors, on the back of a horse or with her little girl Aubrey Lynn and her fur babies; Bubba, Cedar, Tex and horse Ace.
Matt Metrinko
Veterinary Assistant
After 15 years in law enforcement serving as a bomb technician and K9 handler and a vacation in Iraq as a military contractor, Matt made a mid-life change of career and entered veterinary medicine. He began working with Travelers Rest Animal Hospital before moving to emergency medicine at Upstate Emergency and Specialty. He has since returned to the trAH family and is currently in school for his Veterinary Technician degree and license. His spare time is mostly devoted to a menagerie including his retired bomb dog, a Rottweiler - Shepherd, Swedish Vallhund, mini-pig, calico jaguar/panther/cat and two snails. And his wife...
Allie John
Veterinary Assistant
Allie joined our team in 2021. She has over a decade of experience in many different areas of veterinary medicine and is glad to have landed at trAH. Her passion lies in helping owners provide the best care possible for their pets. Currently, she is pursuing an associate in veterinary technology and enjoys learning new things on a daily basis at work. She has a special interest in anesthesia and all things feline. Some of her favorite things include playing board games with her family and snuggling up with her furry companions for a midday nap.
Tamiah Hampton
Veterinary Assistant
Tamiah was born and raised in Greenville, SC. She attended Tri-County Tech where she received her degree in Veterinary Technology. She has one sibling and one fur baby named Chino aka "Munchkin". She enjoys going on walks with Chino and traveling. She is a Vet Tech because when she sees an animal she sees a loving living being who needs her. She has the passion and devotion to dedicate herself to aiding animals and providing excellent care for them when they step inside and outside of the clinic.
Caroline Dechant

Caroline was born and raised in Henderson, NC. She ventured into veterinary medicine as soon as she graduated high school in 2019. Since then, she fell in love with the career and has never looked back!
She enjoys going on hikes, kayaking, and cuddling up with her two sweet huskies, Krypto Schmipto and Bobby.
She is excited to be apart of our trAH team and being able to learn and grow.
Mary Louise Kafer
Veterinary Assistant
Mary Louise was born and raised in Roxboro, NC. She graduated from UNCW with a degree in Biology and minors in Psychology and Neuroscience. She is working towards her Veterinary Technician License in the Penn Foster Veterinary Technician program. In her free time she enjoys reading, camping, and hiking with her 2 dogs, Jackson (pictured) and Bentley.

Alyssa was raised in Belton, SC. She studied Pre-Veterinary Biology at Clemson University. After spending time in Emergency Veterinary Medicine at a hospital in Gainesville, GA, she recently moved back to South Carolina to return to General Practice Medicine with trAH. In her free time, she hangs out with her fiancé, her cat Apollo, and her black lab Benelli. She also likes to spend time in the mountains, paint, and hang out with her friends.

Anna was born and raised in Greenville, SC. She graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 2020 and joined our team in July of that year. She is currently attending Clemson University with a major in Animal and Veterinary Science, looking to pursue a career as a veterinarian. During her occasional free time, Anna enjoys spending time with her family and friends and her sweet kitty, Luna.

Brian was born and raised here in South Carolina. He graduated from Travelers Rest High School in 2011 and then went on to receive a bachelor’s in Arts degree at North Greenville University. He was hired on to work in the kennel and then soon started working as a veterinary assistant.
Amanda Warren

Meet Amanda, Amanda was born in Memphis, TN and moved to the Greer area when she was six years old. Amanda graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 2020 and is now attending Greenville Technical College. After finishing her Associates in Science in June of 2022, she plans on attending Clemson University to major in Animal Science and eventually go on to obtain her Doctorate in Veterinarian Medicine (DVM). Since she was very young, animals have held a special place in her heart. Amanda developed a great appreciation for animal wellbeing and care. She is the proud fur mama to her beloved cat Louis. Amanda also has 4 fur siblings, 2 cats Kitty and Sammy, and 2 dogs Odie and Daisy, who is my father’s service dog.
Theresa DeGrote

Theresa was born and raised in Orange County NY. Her first job as a kid was in a large animal hospital working in the kennels After high school she relocated to the Midwest, working in a training facility in Kansas City. After 3 years, she decided to move to Travelers Rest SC, where her immediate family had relocated. Since then, she has worked as a kennel technician, veterinary assistant, and receptionist in different clinics in Greer and Greenville.
Theresa spends her free time with her three amazing children, Ava, Adrianna, and Landyn. She also loves spending time with her four dogs and 7 cats. Theresa has been an active foster parent for several dogs over the years and continues to help rescues wherever she can. She loves the lake, mountains, and local music.

Neely was born and raised in Travelers Rest, SC. She graduated from TR High School and competes in rodeos with her horse! She has always had a love for animals and continues to show this through her work. In her free time, she rides her horse, spends time with her family and trains her dogs.

Ashleigh was born and raised in Lexington, SC. After High School she moved to Oregon and worked on a Horse Therapy Farm. This is where she found her love for animals. She recently moved to Greenville, SC and has started as an assistant with us! She is currently working towards getting her Technician License. Ashleigh spends her free time finding new walking trails, reading and exploring her interest working with large animals

Maggie Schwarz

Maggie Schwarz was born and raised in Portland, OR. She now lives in Travelers Rest, SC with her grandparents and two Great Danes, London and Luna. She additionally owns two Fancy Rats named Brownie and Cookie. She joined our team in 2021. Maggie used to work for 3 years in Doggie Daycare and Boarding in various facilities throughout Greenville and Simpsonville. She is currently working on her Associates in Science degree at Spartanburg Community College and eventually a bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology with a focus in Wildlife Rehab. Maggie had a passion for every animal since she was little, and even then, wished to work in a veterinary hospital. In her free time, she enjoys taking nature walks and collecting geodes.

Ellie joined our team in May of 2022. She grew up in Asia and moved to Travelers Rest in 2021. She loves all kinds of animals, especially exotics. She currently has 2 dogs, 2 cats and 2 bearded dragons. Ellie graduated high school in 2023 and is a vet tech student at Greenville Technical college.

Ceceila Given

Meet Cecelia. She was born in Guangzhou, China. She moved to America after she was adopted at the age of 2. She has two brothers and one sister. Cecelia is also the sister-n-law to one of our own, Dr. Jennifer Given.
She graduated Greenville Technical college with an associate degree. Her goal was to work with children, but then the animal passion grew, so here she is. She joined us in 2023!
When not working, she loves to read, explore the outdoors and spend time with family and friends.
Beth Smith

Bethany was born in the upstate and graduated from the Veterinary assistant program at Greenville Technical college in 2018. She plans to continue her education to become a licensed veterinary technician. She has worked mostly in shelter medicine and privately owned veterinary clinics before joining our trAH team in 2023.
When she is not caring for our boarders, she may be gaming, reading or just relaxing with her bestie (Havoc, her German Sheperd mix).
